1937 Austin 7 Ruby
£5,250
Location: Cranleigh
The Ruby model was introduced towards the end of the Seven production and represented quite a refined car compared with its earlier siblings. The interior was well trimmed, the seats comfortable and it had a front opening windscreen, sliding sunroof and wind-down windows to the front and rear. Still powered by the 747cc engine, the four-speed gearbox boasted synchromesh in 2nd, 3rd and fourth gears.
This Austin 7 Ruby was registered in Taunton on the 24th March 1937, recently it has made its way to West Sussex and now Surrey.
The engine starts and runs very well, we are told that the engine has been rebuilt in recent years, however we have no evidence of this, it does sound very sweet and has had electronic ignition fitted. There is no frost damage and all the fluids are in the correct places.
The drive train is very nice, gear change is smooth and is possibly the best driving Ruby that we have recent had the pleasure of. It handles well and has new tyres fitted all round.
The upholstery is very original and colour coded carpets to match the green exterior have been fitted which are like new. All electrics work and has indicators fitted for modern day driving.
The body is in good order, the paintwork has a great patinaed look which really suits the car.
We have the V5 present, the car is of course TAX and MOT exempt.
