1937 Austin 7 Trials Car
Sold
Location: Cranleigh
The Austin 7 is an economy car that was produced in the UK from 1923 until 1939. Nicknamed the "Baby Austin", at that time it was one of the most popular cars produced for the British market. Its impact in the UK was similar to that of the Model T Ford in the US, replacing most other British economy cars and cyclecars of the early 1920s.
This 1937 Austin 7 Special has been restored and built into a fully capable and some what competitive trials car.
The engine starts and runs very well, it has a modified inlet manifold and carburettor, as well as a remote spin on oil filter. It has good oil pressure hot and cold, and although the engine is not heavily modified it does go well.
Fitted with a 4 speed gearbox the drive train is in good order with no nasty noises, it is also fitted with Bowden front brakes which is handy for both road use and trials.
The Austin has a RTC Special body, that is in very good order with no major damage or battle scars. The interior is very minimal as you can imagine, but was retrimmed during the build and is complete with a full tonneau cover.
We have a current V5 as well as a history file, including a VSCC logbook.
